Caecilia Lochner

November 11, 1928 - March 15, 2025

Caecilia Anna Lochner (nee Wagner)

November 11, 1928 - March 15, 2025

Passed away peacefully at Hamilton General Hospital on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the age of 96 years.

Predeceased by her husband, George (2010). Loving mother to Ted, Fred (Janet), Paul (Maria) and John (Nancy). Cherished Oma to Jasmin (Brad), Nicholas (Nicole), Marcus (Shelby), Lucas, William, Clara and Grace. She was also blessed with 2 great-grandchildren, Violet and Sophie.

Caecilia, or Zilli as she was affectionately known to her family and close friends, was born in Kirchehrenbach, Germany. Her life was a remarkable journey, having lived through the depression and then the war. In 1950 she married George. Life in Germany at that time was difficult. In order to provide a better life for their family, they immigrated to Canada in 1953, where they overcame the challenge of adapting to a new language and culture. They moved many times, eventually settling in the Hamilton area, with many of those years being spent on their farm in Troy.

Caecilia was an avid baker, known especially for her cakes and cookies. She would always have cake & coffee to offer her visitors regardless of when they came and, if given some notice, she would make a special trip to the store in order to provide a traditional German ‘Brotzeit’ (bread time).

Caecilia was proud of her German heritage and had incredible recall, often sharing vivid memories of her early years in Germany. She worked hard her whole life and was devoted to her faith.
O Herr, gib ihr den ewigen Frieden.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 620 Rymal Road East, Hamilton, on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation.
