KELLY, Eileen Mary
December 16, 1925- January 7, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eileen Mary Kelly (nee Hunter) on January 7, 2025, in her 100th year. Beloved wife of the late Richard (Dick) Kelly (2001). Loving mother of sons Brian (Mary) and Paul. Cherished grandmother of Matthew Kelly (Kristy Mohun) and Blair Delany (Trent) and GG to the loves of her life, her great-grandchildren Hazel Delany and her namesake Emmett Hunter Delany. Eileen will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her sister Theresa Jamieson as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Eileen is preceded in death by her parents Pauline and James Hunter, her sister Florence St. Pierre, and her brothers Walter Hunter and Frank Hunter. Eileen was a graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, class of 1947 and worked with polio patients until she started a family in 1955. She was very proud to have been honoured by the Nursing Association in 2022 as being the longest living graduate and was featured in their annual newsletter. She was also a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish for 63 years and served for many years as a member of the Catholic Woman’s League there. An avid sports fan, Eileen unapologetically cheered for her teams, the Ti-Cats and Blue Jays and loved watching golf on TV even though she had never swung a club in her life. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Eileen’s niece Jeanne Sutton, who always and unselfishly made time for our Mom especially in these last few weeks. Friends may visit with the family at the M.A. CLARK & SONS FUNERAL HOME (567 Upper Wellington Street, Hamilton) on Sunday from 1:00pm- 4:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH (305 East 37th Street, at Fennell Avenue, Hamilton) on Monday January 13th at 11:00am. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery (254 Garner Road West, Ancaster).

Mrs. Kelly to us as kids and Eileen to our parents Mario and Bette and our aunt and uncle, Dino and Kay. She was a friendly and trusted neighbourhood adult. She had an open door policy and an easy laugh. A good listener and planner, she and our mom spent countless hours on the phone planning the events of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Women’s League. Living across the street from Dino and Kay, they became good friends and Eileen graciously chauffeured them when asked.
Eileen was a woman of great faith and you just knew she was someone you could depend on. So many fond memories of our Queensdale area days.
My condolences Paul, Brian and family.
