Ivor Brown

June 30, 1936 - July 27, 2024

Born in Seaford Town, Jamaica, West Indies to Edward Brown and Ethel Topper, with siblings Violet, Rudy, Eustace, Ivy, Bernard, Hubert (died as a toddler), and Ruth. Moved to Canada in 1957 when he was 21. Worked in London, Ontario as an RNA, then obtained his Bachelor of Theology in Alberta, worked as a minister in Ottawa and Brantford for a few years, later worked at Henderson (now Juravinski) Hospital as an orderly, then as a porter at Hamilton General Hospital, eventually becoming head porter before his retirement. He was a deacon for years at the Hamilton Mountain Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church. He loved to sing and did so both in public and even at home alone. Once he retired, he moved to the town of Cobalt and joined the Old Age Club where he was frequently asked to sing. He attended the Haileybury SDA church, enjoying the fellowship there and delivering sermons (and eulogies) when he had opportunity. His heartfelt singing frequently moved the listener to tears (e.g. "Ten Thousand Angels" - Ray Overholt). He was a loving husband to Joan (who survives him) and kind father to Trevor. Ivor will be missed.

May God comfort you Trevor and your family, in the loss of your Dad.
He was truly a devout Seventh day Adventist Christian.
I remember him with high regard.
God bless,
