On December 2, 2023, after a valiant fight we are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Christine Theresa Walsh at home in her 74th year.
Loving mother of Christopher (Tricia) and "Grandma Cleo" to Caitlin. Beloved partner and soul mate of Michael Distant. Daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian Marie Walsh. Sister to Ann Marie, Sharon, Pat, Rick (Rose), Jeff, Maureen (deceased), Steven (deceased) (Cathy), Bob (deceased) and Brian. Remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Christine was an amazing cook and devoted over 40 years in the kitchen to the delight of the residents at Macassa Lodge.
Christine loved to dance to the music of her youth, especially Rod Stewart. Her conversations were sprinkled with jokes and laughter and she was serious about only two things: Saturday date nights with Michael and family dinner on Sunday.
Nobody was ever a stranger for long as Christine was always striking up conversations and making new friends wherever she went. She loved all of the many cats that padded their way in and out of her life and had a soft spot for the many strays throughout the years which she would feed when they came to her door.
Christine received wonderful care In her final months at home with much love and many long walks by Ann Marie, Michael and her extended family.
We would like to thank the many caregivers who helped in her journey home. The amazing staff at St Joseph's Healthcare, especially Dr. Boyle and her palliative care team. Her tireless home care crew from Bayshore and Stonechurch Family Health Centre including palliative nurses Sandy and Lyndsay, PSW Felicia, Dr. Gallagher and her team.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sat Dec 9th from 12-3pm at M.A. Clark and Sons Funeral Home. 567 Upper Wellington Street Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Christine's memory to the Alzheimer Society Foundation, Cancer Assistance Program or a charity of your choice.
I am saddened for the lost of Christine, my condolences to the family
Christine had a heart of gold, a fantastic Sence of humour, loved music and dance at her best
I worked with Christine for many years by my side , there was nothing to much for her to help fellow co- workers
She was amazing hard worker, with that beautiful smile and laughter and a fantastic cook!
May she be cooking up a storm in heaven and dancing to her own beat!
Rest in Peace Christine 😘❤️
