Blanche Christie

January 31, 1927 - April 24, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on April 24, 2022 in her 96th year.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband John W. Christie for 24 years. Cherished mother of Donald (Carol), Valerie (Dominic), Janet (Tom) and Robert (Marie). Loving grandmother to Aaron (Kristina), Lana (Jay), Brandon (Melody), Colin (Jessica), Michael, and Victor. Also, special to her heart were twelve great-grandchildren. Predeceased by sisters, Winnie, Christina and Millie.

Blanche met her husband John at Stelco where they both worked. After marriage she became a hard-working stay at home mom. With John’s passing she took on new responsibilities in her life. Her favorite phrase was, “I have always been independent”. She loved being at family gatherings where she always enjoyed herself surrounded by family. Blanche was a lover of all animals and had many dogs over the years, her favorite being her German shepherds. She also loved to feed the birds and squirrels. Blanche loved to watch hockey and went to many Hamilton Bulldog games. Her favorite team has always been the Boston Bruins and she was on cloud nine watching the final game with her family when they won the Stanley Cup in 2011.

Thank you to nieces, Lorraine and Joan for their weekly phone conversations that Blanche looked forward to. Thank you to neighbors Brian and Maureen for their friendship and support. Thank you to Judy, her hairdresser for 24 years who became a good friend.

Blanche will be sadly missed by family and friends. Blanche is now reunited with her husband John, whom she loved and missed dearly. According to Blanche’s wishes, there will be a private family service.

Donald, Valerie, Janet, and Robert. What an amazing Mom and Aunt we shared. Having her share our lives for so long was surely a gift. Remembering so many fun times we shared growing up. We had many laughs with your Mom and Dad. Your Mom babysitting Carl, Jim, and I. Parties at our house. Picnics. Your Dad playing the organ. My life is full of great memories. We will miss her so much. Love to you all.
