June Cooper

May 10, 1926 - August 29, 2018

Shirley June Cooper (nee Suggett): b. May 10, 1926

June passed away peacefully on August 29, 2018 at the age of 92. Beloved wife (of 65 years) of the late Vic Cooper (d. 2011). June will be missed and fondly remembered by her children Rick Cooper (Alison), Tim Cooper (Janice), Pam Barrett (Bill) and Patti
Forrest (John), as well as her nine grandchildren Jennifer and Meghan
Cooper (Erich), Leanne Wrench (Dan) and Sean Brazil, Tricia (Mark) and Cassie Barrett,
Brandon (Alyssa), Greg, and Blair Forrest, and her ten great grandchildren.

June lived the first half of her life on Hamilton's East Mountain before moving to the West Mountain. She married Vic shortly after he came home from WWII and worked alongside him at Cooper's Flower Shop while raising their four children.

She volunteered for many years with the Girl Guides of Canada and was later a proud member of the Trefoil Guild. She was an active member of the congregation at Mount Hamilton United Church.

June's loyalty, generosity and kindness encircled and nurtured her extensive network of family and life-long friends. She was always eager to lend a hand, provide a meal, play a game or throw a party. She loved her cottage at Turkey Point, infants and children, big band music, and finding a good bargain.

A private family service is being arranged, Condolences may be expressed through MA Clark & Sons website at maclarkfuneralhome.com. Special thanks to all the staff at Idlewyld Manor.

It i is sad to think that June has gone . I have known her for many years, starting when we were young girls in Girl Guides. , and later when we were both leaders. Through Guiding we shared a common bond that lasted through the years. Most recently I and a mutual friend, Mary Lorimer , enjoyed going out to lunch with June, and when she moved to Idlewyld, we continued, arranging to . have lunch with her in her dining area there. Her smile, and cherrfulness, generosity and thoughtfulness endeared her to many and she will be missed by all of us who knew and loved her. She will not be forgotten.

I was saddened to hear of June's passing. She has been a good Guiding friend for many years, and I will miss our visits, most recently at Idelwyld.

Our sincere sympathy to all the family at this time. June was a lovely lady, genuinely interested in others and their families - probably because she loved her family. I will remember serving with her on the Mount Hamilton Finance Committee where her steady hand was a welcome help. We will miss her.

The end of an era, and of life well lived. June's legacy lives on in her children and in the work she did for others.

Our sincere condolences to the family on June's passing.

When we think of June, we will fondly remember the superb vacation moments spent with her and Vic in Switzerland, Clearwater and Myrtle Beach. Every year, we enjoy using the table-top Christmas tree light decoration that June helped us craft with great skill and enthusiasm. We will always treasure June's warm hospitality in welcoming us during the fun annual get-togethers at Turkey Point, where we bathed in the warm Lake Erie water and afterward relished her signature barbecue fare.

She will indeed be sadly missed.

We're sorry for your loss. We had the pleasure of talking to June when we went to visit my husbands'' Mom, at Idlewyld. We enjoyed talking about the days when she ran Coopers. My parents always bought flowers from there. She was a lovely lady. We're sure she will be missed.
